Moving to a new home can be a bit stressful. To help you move in to your new home, follow these checklist:
1. Research moving companies or truck rental companies. Make your moving arrangements early and avoid moving during long weekends or at the beginning or end of the month.
2. Get your records in order by contacting your doctor, vet, insurance agent and your child’s school to find out what you have to do to transfer your records to a new location.
3. Toss or give away anything that you don’t need. Make extra money by throwing a yard sale to get rid of unwanted clutter in your house.
4. Start gathering moving supplies like boxes, packaging tape and bubble wrap.
5. Jot down items of significant value and start packing early. Start with items that you don’t use on a regular basis. Mark the boxes with the room destination as well as the contents of the box.
6. Confirm the arrival of the moving truck days before the move and prepare a detailed map and directions as well as a cell phone number before moving out.
7. Empty, defrost and clean the refrigerator at least 24 hours before moving day.
8. Check for damaged items, make sure all appliances are in good condition and make note of utility readings.
